Antarctica Revealed: Research at the Bottom of the World

Antarctica, the coldest, driest, windiest, and highest elevation  continent on Earth has long been a place of mystery and adventure. As the world's largest desert this forbidding terrain has a unique and diverse story to tell. Learn about the frigid landscape, arid environment, and what it is like to do research at the bottom of the world from first hand experiences of a geologist who spent a field season at a remote camp deep within the interior of Antarctica unraveling the geology of the Transantarctic Mountains.

Danny Foley is a geologist who has earned undergraduate and graduate degrees from Arizona State University and Northern Arizona University (NAU). He is a scientific researcher who has worked for NASA in planetary geology and as an instructor of geology in higher education. Foley is interested in better understanding our dynamic world and how geologic processes and materials work in an overall system.
